The Glacier Des Bossons , the focal point of the Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley, attracting the eye of both mountain dwellers and visitors, is the highest waterfall in alpine ice (3630m vertical drop) and the fastest glacier due to its steep slope (advance of 1m to 1.50m per day). Directly from the snows of the peaks of Mont-Blanc (4810m), Mont-Maudit (4465m) and Mont-Blanc du Tacul (4248m), he was in 1786 , the historic route taken by Jacques Balmat and Dr Paccard during the 1st ascent to the roof of Europe, Mont-Blanc. The Bossons chairlift , 1102m long, dates from 1960. In 1962, it hosted the world ski championships where the chamoniard Charles Bozon won the gold medal in slalom.
